I’ve been a big fan of fashion, ever since I can remember the copies of mom’s Vanidades magazine strewn on our coffee tables at home.
Having worked, and be-friended, some of the awesome designers at Obey Clothing, Volcom, and Quiksilver, I’ve become a big fan of a huge diversity of fashion. Not always super surf inspired, and sometimes inspired by my preppy Ivy League college roots. (I don’t care what you say, there was ivy growing on the beautiful buildings of my UCLA campus, that makes it “Ivy League” to me! Yeah Royce Hall, and Powell Library!)
The motorcycle gear I wear is mostly influenced by the fashion of the celebrity tough guys of the 70s Silver Screen: Steve McQueen

and Clint Eastwood

Those dudes had style. And new their way around a good car and/or motorcycle.
One of my first jackets was a Barbour. Exactly what McQueen used to wear when racing (yep, he raced motorcycles AND cars) in Europe. That jacket is boss!
I took that puppy down to Spain with me, and rode all over the joint, with nothing but that jacket to protect my upper body from the elements. And even when it rained hard in the plains of Spain (no joke), it kept me totally dry. Now that’s good function, and style!
Strangely, J. Crew and some others have been doing some throw-back styles, and re-releasing them. Among them, some sweet Belstaff jackets. Which McQueen and those dudes of the days of yore, also used to wear.
They’ve got this classic style, which the Founder/President of Jupiter’s Motorcycle Rentals owns and wears all the time:
And this one, which looks pretty good too:
They’ll run you some cash-eesh, but well worth it.
I highly suggest you check ‘em out. You’ll look good, and be protected from the elements. Not a bad combo when riding a motorcycle.
Keep riding kids. And tell your friends about orange county motorcycle rentals — Jupiter’s wants you to swing by…show me you got style! I just might give you a deal.
